Sophie

Born and raised in Uganda, Sophie developed a deep love for her land, people and wildlife, and after years of crafting specialized safaris for some of the most reputable tour companies in Uganda and Rwanda, she recognized the need for authentic, high-end experiences which at the same time support conservation and sustainable tourism.

In 2024 Sophie founded Safari Lux Travel.
With over 17 years of tourism expertise, specialising in safaris, Sophie has in-depth knowledge of East Africa’s wildlife, cultures and hidden gems.
Her qualifications include a degree in tourism, Diploma in IATA, certificates in customer service, and she has participated in training in national parks and safari lodges, including conservation and community tourism.
She believes that safari is about connection with nature, people and oneself. Her aim is to craft journeys that not only showcase East Africa’s majesty, but also support local communities and conservation efforts, and to make memories for customers that will last forever.

Sue Guthrie

Sue has been a Tour Leader all over the world, mostly in Africa, including Uganda, for over 20 years working for one of the UK’s leading adventure travel companies (Explore). She comes to us with years of experience, not only in leading tours, but also in the hospitality industry.
In 2015 Sue won the Wanderlust Bronze World Guide Award, awarded by the UK’s leading adventure travel magazine. She has also won numerous awards from Explore Worldwide, including The Deepen Rai excellency award.
Her passion is travel, her care for attention to detail is second to none. She is joining us as a partner and a leader bringing international guiding skills and management to our company.
She is a bubbly, caring and warm person who puts 100% into everything she does. She has worked in Ethiopia extensively, Uganda, Mauritania, Eritrea, Djibouti, Kenya, Tanzania, Senegal, Gambia, Mali, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Seychelles, Madagascar. Mongolia, USA, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and more.
Her experience and passion for creating itineraries, leading them and delivering the best customer service is her passion in life.
Denis Mugerwa

Denis joins Safari Lux Travel with over 15 years in tour operation, having worked for one of the leading DMCs in Uganda. He has a wealth of experience in designing tour packages with the best interests of the clients in mind.
He has attended marketing events all over the world as a representative, including the ITB in Berlin, INDABA in South Africa, and the Karibu International Fair in Tanzania.
His attention to detail is second to none.
He is bringing a wealth of experience to our team coming from a background of hard work having started working in the tourism business right after school in 2008. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Tourism from Uganda’s prestigious Makerere University
Denis is a proud Ugandan who understands other cultures and the needs of tourists from all over the world.
