Drive to the Millennium village project located 45 mins way from Kigali. Today you'll learn about tourism and sustainable development initiatives in Rwanda. The Millennium Village Project was set up by New Dawn Associates, a responsible tourism and community development company seeking to improve the lives of people living in the Bugesera district. This region was particularly hard hit during the genocide, and with a population of more than 25,000 the government cleared vast tracts of indigenous forest to make space for houses and farms.
At the Millennium village you will be we welcomed at the head quarters in Nyamata and then proceed to vist two genocide memorial sites: the churches of Nyamata and Ntaram, have lunch and then visit the agricutlural intervention station, visit Mayange Primary school and a health centre you will then end your day with basket weaving, time permitting you will join a reconciilation inniative with testomonies before driving back to Kigali
